Free School Meals – Reception, Years 1 and 2

Free meals to all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2

From September 2014 school meals will be free to all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and we would encourage all parents and carers to ensure their children take up the offer of a free meal at lunchtime.

School Meals for children in Years 3-6

From September 2014 the price of a paid school meal will increase by 5p to £1.80. This is in line with two of our closest neighbouring primary schools and we think represents extremely good value for a two course hot midday meal. Families on low income will still be able to claim free school meals and we would encourage all parents who qualify to complete an application form.

Free School Meals Funding

The school receives additional funding (known as pupil premium funding) for all pupils currently eligible for free school meals. We use this funding to raise the achievement of pupils. Before the end of summer term we will be asking all parents and carers of children currently in Reception and Year 1 (who will be in Year 1 and Year 2 next year) to complete a “Universal Free School Meals” form so that the Council can identify if our school is entitled to receive this additional funding for your child from next year.
